"A safe and respectful place to share your thoughts with no judgement". T. Croom, MS, GCDF
In my opinion I have taken a psychology class before I never could understand it not one bit. Now I pick up on some information and retain it ( so I am doing way better than before). I wouldn't say it is "hard" I would say it is a lot to remember/retain. I feel like you have to have a love for it and actually sit down and study it also.
ReplyDeleteFor me the hard part of this class was remembering which person laid the foundation for which subject. The meat of the information was good and helpful. All the names and perspectives, along with dates was crazy challenging for me. I did appreciate that as the chapters went on, some names tied in and became more familiar, but not to the point that I feel confident on any of them, with the exception of Maslow and his hierarchy of needs. On the positive side, I loved learning things that correlated with my anatomy class and sometimes with my sociology class. We learned about the brain, and when we got to that in anatomy it was easier for me since I had been previously exposed to the material. Same with the eyes and hearing. I also value the lessons learned in the learning chapters. Especially understanding the difference in reinforcing a behavior or punishing a behavior.
ReplyDeleteTo me, Psychology is not hard to learn it's all about the way it's being learned. I've had friends take AP psychology in high school and they would often go on about how difficult it was now that I'm taking the class in college, I've realized that the content may be a lot to consume but it's all about application. Everything in psychology makes sense once you apply it to everyday life.
ReplyDeleteI think psychology can indeed evoke various reactions from people. However, it's a valuable field that offers insights into human behavior and relationships. Whether perceived as easy or challenging, exploring psychology can provide valuable tools for personal growth and understanding.
ReplyDeleteI have taken Psy 201 and struggled with understanding the theories. But I did pass the class. I just could not grasp the information. Not to say certain parts are not interesting. I just couldn't get centered enough to take in the information. But I do feel it's helpful with everyday life and situations are people we may come across. It's just trying to understand how these individuals came up with these theories. I think when I retake Psy 203 I will take it alone. Trying to take it with other classes was hard. I could not focus on the class like I wanted to.
