  5. Now that I have almost completed this course in psychology, I have a new respect for it. I am glad to have been required to take it. I feel moving forward it will help me a lot. As a middle-aged adult, my memory is not the same as when I was a teenager. The chapters I enjoyed the most were on memory and motivation, along with ways to study. My big take away has been to pre-read, then read in depth the second time thru. I have retained so much more this way and it seems like a no brainer now, but it is not something I did before. Hindsight they say. I am just beginning my season of being back in school and I know moving forward I will be a better student.

  6. I have a passion for medicine especially the field of obstetrics and have goals of higher education to become a doctor. With this there is a lot of interviews you must to do discuss why you want to be a doctor and the concept of nature vs nurture has helped me to realize why I am so passionate about the field of OBGYN. Snce I was a child I was always sensitive to those around me and had a leader personality, along with being very curious. All of these personality traits can be seen as apart of the "nature" aspect of the "nature vs nurture" discussion, as at a very young age I was already demonstrating traits that helped lead me to my goals and are important characteristics of being a doctor. However the "nurture" aspect can be seen as my mom works as a physical therapist and I have had wonderful health science teachers who have both help shape my interest in medicine. The influences in my life, as proved in the theory of empiricism that knowlege comes from observations and experiences, have caused me to not only be knowledgable about biological sciences but to enjoy learning about them as well.

This "nature vs nurture" discussion has helped me to see how both aspects work hand in hand as my personality is able to be a leader and have empathy for others, while my experience has caused me to have a deep love for the the medical sciences, helping me reach me achieve my goals of being an OBGYN.

  16. I think psychology education probably has the highest degree of effective transfer across fields that involve any degree of human interaction. The application of psychological principles can also be turned inward in the pursuit of individual self actualization or just generally being a better person, partner, or friend. For me personally, I aspire to becoming a psychologist so I imagine it's going to be particularly important.
