Does extreme heat have a impact on your attitude?

CAN YOU HANDLE THE HEAT?

Comments

  1. I have suffered from migraine since I was 6 years old, of course at that time it was harder to identify what could be a detonator. As I grew up I was able to identify things, situations or foods that make my migraine more often, heat is one of those. It has gotten better but there are times that when I'm hot I can feel the start of a migraine.

  2. I've never been a fan of heat. There is something about being hot, sticky and irritated that just doesn't sit right with me. I hate feeling the sweat dripping down my face, I hate feeling stick and dirty, I hate it. Can I say that this may impact my mood. Yes! if I am hot, I am not happy. I'm a person that already instinctively has a short fuse and when I am hot and irritated, that short fuse is completely non-existent. If I am looked at the wrong way, if someone breathes wrong, I am instantly annoyed and agitated. This is something I learned about myself a while ago and now that I can notice the signs before I blow up, I try to make sure that I don't get to that point, but as someone who was born in the winter time and who loves icees and ice cream and sleeps with a fan on even in the winter time, I can honestly say that I am very easily agitated in the heat.

  3. Being in the hot will automatically put me in a bad mood, I absolutely hate the hot. I will take cold over hot any day of the week. I hate when it gets hot because I become so irritated and rude to people and that is not who I am.

  4. 100% the heat can really make people angry, including myself. When I get really hot and sweaty I get mad. I can imagine myself now walking back from the beach all gross carrying chairs and towels being soooo pissed off. Don't get me wrong, the beach is my favorite place but walking there is brutal. The heat can make me mad, especially when my face starts to get sweaty, ew. I hate the heat but boy do I love the sunshine.

  5. Yes, I really dislike being hot. I get really irritated by being hot and don't feel like being bothered. I most definitely prefer the cold overheat because I can always find ways to get warm.

  6. I would say yes! Extreme heat does have an impact on your attitude. I know it does on me... I do my best to be mindful that when it is extremely hot, that I do not displace agitation or frustration onto others. Sweating from an intense workout as opposed to extreme heat is totally different. That sticky, muggy feeling is not pleasing! lol I'd rather have option to add clothes onto my body than get so hot and not be able to take away clothing! Thus remaining hot, sticky and irritated until I can reach a shower.

  7. Heat has an extreme impact on my attitude because I dislike being hot. I would much rather be cold than hot. If I get hot while sleeping, my attitude isnt the best. I also don't like to sweat so during summer I am somewhere near the air condition and in the shade.

  8. Extreme heat most certainly impacts my mood. I hate being hot and I hate sweating even more. I have a naturally hot disposition, so I prefer cooler temperatures. The thing about being hot is...you can only take off so many articles of clothing (in public) to try and cool off. If you're cold, you can easily put on more clothes on to warm up. There is almost certainly some body of water nearby if I choose to spend time outside in hotter months. SC summers are no joke!

  9. Yes, extreme heat can have an impact on a person's attitude. When exposed to high temperatures, people may become irritable, agitated, and short-tempered. This is because extreme heat can cause physical discomfort, dehydration, and exhaustion, which can all contribute to a negative mood and behavior. Hot temperatures can affect our cognitive abilities, making us more prone to making errors and impairing our decision-making abilities. Heat can also reduce our ability to focus and concentrate, leading to increased feelings of frustration and annoyance. Extreme heat can also cause physical symptoms such as headaches, dizziness, and nausea, which can further contribute to a negative mood. It is important to be aware of the potential impact of extreme heat on our attitudes and to take steps to stay cool and hydrated in order to minimize these effects.

  10. Yes, I feel there is a strong correlation with the heat and your attitude. Definitely on the days where it is colder outside I am in a lesser mode and I can get more irritable easier. However on the days it is warmer I am in a better mood and feel more productive.

  11. For me it is 50/50. I love the feeling of it being hot outside at the beach or anytime during the summer but I can not stand the thought of being hot any other time. I do not like the feeling of hopping in my car and feeling like my face is going to melt off. I feel like the heat makes me feel gross and sticky and just overall agitated. I cant sleep if i'm hot and I cant get ready to go out if I start sweating. So yes I prefer the cold.

  12. Extreme heat does impact my attitude. I have worked outside for most of my jobs due to the fact that semi-well-payed jobs deal with conditions that most people do not want to due such as work outside in extreme heat. I know my attitude change because being exposed to extreme heat for a long period of time will lead me to have a migraine and would want to feel like throwing up. I have combated this situation by wearing a hat, wearing a cool long sleeve shirt that bounces the sun rays off of me, and most importantly I drink plenty of water throughout the day.

  13. Heat alone has an affect on my attitude, let alone extreme heat. I cant sleep well. I can't focus when I'm hot. All I think about is getting somewhere cooler. I love the sun but I can't take being uncomfortable. When I'm cooler, I'm relaxed and when I'm hot, my attitude seems to adjust with the temperature. There has to be some sort of correlation between temperature and your moods/attitudes.

  14. Extreme heat has a big affect on my attitude because I hate being hot and sweaty. I get aggravated quickly and I don't like being touch because I feel that adds on to the heat. I don't like the cold that much either but I would prefer to be cold than hot.

  15. Extreme heat can harm human behavior and mood. Research has shown that high temperatures can increase people's irritability, aggression, and stress levels because the body's response to heat involves increased heart rate, sweating, and dehydration, leading to fatigue and discomfort. I know I get super irritable and cracky when I'm super hot.

    1. I like this research based post, it does make perfect sense though. Fatigue and discomfort can generally make anybody edgy. I wonder sometimes about stress hormones like cortisol and whether or not temperatures affect their production. The answer for me is a YES. I have been ill several times from the heat, especially when I worked a kitchen w/o air conditioning. The biggest trigger for me is when there is a drastic temp change, like when I'd have to go into the walk-in cooler or freezer.

  16. Yes, extreme heat can have a minor impact on my attitude. I find that high temperatures can increase my bad mood because it makes me feel a little unenergetic, but staying cool and hydrated during hot weather is what I do to maintain a positive attitude.

  17. No it depends on the situation. If im playing sports then yes heat sucks and i dont like it. But when I take my days off and go to the pool then im fine with the heat.

  18. Yes! Heat can affect so many things. My mood is middle of the road most of the time. I can handle the heat to an extent. I like to do yard work and most of us know that the summer time is when the majority of yard work is done. We start planting flowers in the spring time so they will be in full bloom so we can have a beautiful yard. By the time the summer gets here in the south... the heat is in full swing. My daughter also plays travel softball so I have been getting an extended taste of the heat this year. Sitting at practice or games and sweat is just running down your back..ugh.. but we do what we do for the love of our children.

  19. As someone who has always been a fall/winter person, yes. Living in SC you're also not just dealing with heat but with humidity. We're also living in a world that's slowly cooking. Every year new heat records are set all across the globe and we all collectively let out a little gasp of surprise even though science has been telling us this is happening nearly our entire lives. So yes, heat makes me irritable. The fact that as a society, definitely in the US, we're doing nearly nothing to try and stop the harm we're causing the planet also makes me irritable. The heat is just a very uncomfortable reminder.

  20. Yes, I remember growing up my mom used to get aggravated fast when it was really hot outside, I use to think she was so mean until I became older and now, I understand lol.

  21. I can't handle the heat at all. If I get too hot I get very angry. I like spring weather where it's not too hot but it's nice enough to sit outside is nice. I hate the humidity.

  22. Yes indeed! I say this to myself and the people around me as soon as it gets too hot. It feels like when its extremely hot, I become irritable, I start to feel drained and tired. I also start to feel uncomfortable because of sweating and the sun beaming down on me. Even though I'm a summer baby (born in august), I cannot stand the heat. I do much better in the spring or fall season.

  23. I have a love/hate relationship with the heat. I am currently in Florida and the heat is terrible. When I become overheated, I get a headache and become dizzy. While I love a good pool day, I would much rather have to put-on extra clothes, than suffer through the heat.

  24. I often jokingly tell everyone that I would rather be cold than hot, because I can always and layers, but there is only so much that I can take off before I go to jail. Honestly being too hot makes me uncomfortable. The more uncomfortable I am the likelihood of me getting easily irritated, frustrated, and confrontational increases.
