  1. Start with the Breath: Begin by paying attention to your breath. Inhale and exhale slowly, focusing on the sensations of each breath.
  2. Be Present: Bring your attention to the present moment. Notice your surroundings, the sounds, and the sensations in your body without judgment.

  1. Ways I use mindfulness in my everyday life would first be by focusing on stretching my body every morning. I feel like this helps to release tension, cramps, soreness, etc. Another way I practice mindfulness is by doing breath work. I find this helps me to calm myself down especially when I am stressed out, it helps bring me back to reality and slow my heart rate when needed. Lastly, I find mindfully eating, which increases please when eating and makes you appreciate food more.

    1. This may sound weird but the way I practice mindfulness is by trying to see the world through a dog's eyes. When my dog is outside, he takes time to stop and just look around; I like to imagine he is enjoying the sun on his face and the wind through his fur. This is the same thing I do when I am feeling overwhelmed. I go outside and just appreciate my surroundings. I listen for birds, observe the way the leaves move or the colors of flowers, and I take a minute to appreciate the warmth of the sun and the wind on my face. He also really enjoys eating. He acts like every piece of kibble is the first bite after months of starving haha! I try to follow his lead and enjoy my meals too. I eat things that will nourish my body and pay attention to the way they taste and make me feel.

    2. I work in the medical field. So I have to be mindful everyday. I have to bring my attention to the present moment. When dealing with patients I have to practice accepting things without judgment. It's really interesting working in the medical field, so mindfulness play a big role.

    3. I love the mindfulness tip about trying to see the world through your dog's eyes. That is such an interesting perspective on how to incorporate mindfulness into your everyday life. I also think stretching and breath work important techniques for trying to stay present, minimize stress, and focus on mindfulness, even during the busiest days. I never thought about acceptance as mindfulness, and I imagine accepting things as they are without judgment is difficult for most people. I think acceptance is something I would like to work on moving forward with a more mindful lifestyle.

    4. I also work with kids in the medical field. So, I practice mindfulness by breathing when I get overwhelmed or stressed out with complex patients or parents. I also practice acceptance by reminding myself that I am not there to judge and do not know the extent of anyone's situation. Still, I am there to help and advocate for my patient so they can get the best care needed for their visit. I agree mindfulness plays a significant role in the medical field, as I am sure it does in many other job aspects.

  2. I believe I use mindfulness in everyday life with considering others in all aspects of life. What I mean is, with my job, school and personal or love life I take in consideration of my kids and what they have going on or how it makes them feel. If I'm short on funds and I know I can ask my best friend I wouldn't because I feel she has her own bills and might need the money she's able to give or loan me. With my partner it's times I want to spend with him but knowing he works over nights I let him sleep but he always tell me his sleep isn't important, he'll sleep on the weekend.

  3. Although, I know a good bit about mindfulness & the importance of being mindful, I seldom use it. My definition of mindfulness is being present & in the moment, with whatever you are doing at that time. After I read this blog, I started practicing mindfulness while driving. I realized that I would drive from point A to point B without remembering a thing in between. So now when I drive, I make it a mission to drive mindfully. I began to pay attention to each & every street sign & store, whether convenience or restaurant, that's on my route to work. I pay attention to the other cars, the weather, the birds in the sky, & what time the sky begins to lighten up. & most of all when I'm driving from Columbia to Florence, I stop putting my car in cruise control. I check my speed regularly now to ensure that I am obeying the speed limit. I pay attention to the roads & road work being done, if debris is on the highway. I am also more in tuned with my fellow drivers & can gauge situations faster, helping me to be proactive to situations while other drivers are often reacting to the same situations. I also practice mindfulness with everyday life now. I try to live presently in each day, rather than go through each day performing routine tasks while my mind is on what happened in the past or what I hope will happen in the future the entire time. There was a time when I would constantly think about what happened yesterday or last week or what I need to be doing for tomorrow or six months from now. & sometimes I still do & have to catch myself & bring myself back to the present. I realize that when I do this, I never get to enjoy my day. I am never at peace. I am always reliving and rehearsing the past & stressed out about my future. I realize that I have a pretty good life, if I simply enjoy it while it's happening & enjoy each & every journey that I decide to take...one day at a time. I've tried to be mindful of my breathing but I'm not good at it. I can probably do it for about five minutes then I zone out again. The same for when I'm eating. Although, I feel like I have made some progress, I know I have a lot more work to do.

  4. For my mindfulness, I would be mindful of what I listen to and the volume of the music I play in certain areas and settings, being mindful of listening to people when they are talking and learn when not to talk, being mindful of love life and being committed to my boyfriend and his own feelings, being mindful to showing respect to my parents, friends, and family, and finally being mindful of not to eat too loud nor smacking when eating food at the table. I'm pretty mindful about a lot of things and these are the lists are what I'm mindful about.

  5. One way I used mindfulness daily is by journaling. Journaling helps me decompress and gather my thoughts. This helps me by getting everything out that I might be stressed or overwhelmed about. Another way I used mindfulness if by going to the gym and working out daily. This helps me get anger out and have time my self to work on me.

  6. As a mother, I practice mindfulness every day when talking to my daughter. I have to be mindful of what I say, how I act, and what I do because I know that my child has always watching and what I do, she’ll eventually do. Kids are like sponges! It was very difficult at first when my daughter became of age, because I was so used to talking and doing thinks a certain way, but now I have a little shadow and I want her to have positive and kind inner thoughts and emotions. I don’t think being mindful is always about deep meditation, but just thinking about the little things you do throughout your day that might impact someone else.

  7. I'm a pharmacy technician so i practice mindfulness everyday. When talking with patients i always conduct a nice tone and listen closely to what patients are saying to get an understanding of what they need. Sometimes Ill even repeat back to the patient what i heard just so i know we are on the same page. I always consider the feelings of others. And I always take others into consideration. I treat others how I want to be treated.

  9. Mindfulness is essential to a healthy body and mind. One way I try to apply it in my daily life is Being Kind to Myself. When I doubted myself before learning these tips I would put myself down and it was not healthy mentally and eventually deteriorated my physical health. So, now I make it a point to say kind things to myself and give credit and reward myself when necessary.

  10. Ways I use mindfulness in my everyday life would first be by taking 10 – 15 minutes of alone time in the morning before waking my kids up for school and before getting my day started. I try to take about 15 minutes of just me time, quietness, no phone jus preparing my mind and body for the day ahead. I also practice mindfulness through my job working in customer service and being on the phone for 8 hours a day. I try to stay present, being fully engaged in the moment and responding to situations rather than impulsively reacting

    1. Hi Shaniya! I love that you take a moment by yourself every morning, that sounds like such a peaceful way to start the day. I may want to try that instead of immediatley jumping on my phone and into chaos each day. And I can relate to trying to stay present while working in customer service! Especially because it can become so stressful in the heat of things. It’s awesome that you’re able to bring mindfulness into both your personal and professional life like that. Thanks for sharing :)

  11. Mindfulness is one of those simple-but-powerful tools that can really transform how you move through the day. It doesn’t always have to mean sitting cross-legged in silence for an hour, either—there are lots of low-key ways to weave it into everyday life. I tend to use mindful mornings which is instead of jumping right into school and work I just take a minute to take a few breaths. To set the tone of the day as calm and not chaotic, and honestly just enjoying my morning before starting my day.

  12. Working with residents and other staff coworkers I have to prepare myself on the drive to work. I will change my music to help me have a calmer demeanor and get relaxed and focused. I also say a prayer to allow myself to release things I deal with outside of work and focus on the care of others during my 12-16 hour shifts. Sometimes the day before depending on the department I'm in. However, being mindful of my surroundings and others are at the forefront of my mind. I have to think before speaking in order not to respond in what may seem harshly to others. I have to be mindful my approach with residents. At an older age, you don't want to come off heartless as sensitive is high for some. So, your tone of voice and body language matters. Even with coworkers. Some are younger and they are still developing their mindsets. Ways that may seem off or childish to me isn't to them. So, I have to always be mindful in how I handle certain individuals.

  13. Growing up, my mom always talked about how important mindfulness, but I never fully understood it until I got older. Now, it's s something I’ve been trying to get better at, especially when life gets stressful. I try to use it in my everyday life by practicing breathing. If I feel overwhelmed or anxious (which can happen often during school), I’ll pause and take a few slow, deep breaths to calm myself down. I think focusing on the bigger picture too can help me understand that this one moment will not affect me in a short amount of time. Both of these help me feel more grounded. I’ve also tried to be more mindful when I eat, putting my phone down and just paying attention to the food and the people around me instead of distractions. That was always big in my household growing up, so I try to continue that today. It may sound small, but I think it brings more peace and meaningfulness into my day. Even paying more attention to my body or how tight my muscled may get, and taking a second to relax has helped. I’m definitely still learning, but even those small moments of mindfulness have made a big difference in how I handle stress.

  14. I think some ways I practice mindfulness in my everyday life are by trying to stay in present and being active with my surroundings. This can be done by getting off my phone and enjoying fresh air or by doing one of my new hobbies diamond painting. I also like to participate in prayer and meditation whenever I feel overwhelmed by the stresses of life.

  15. I’m inconsistent with mindfulness. It’s hard to slow down, but it’s so important—because when I’m not present, I feel like life just slips away from me. I meditate occasionally, and when I do it regularly, I’m much better at regulating my emotions. I also try to enjoy the moment as much as I can—like in the mornings when I take my dog out. Even if I’m in a rush to get to work and he wants to poke around, I try to slow down. I listen to the birds and enjoy the fresh air, and I try not to think about how I’m going to be late. I also know he senses my energy, so I do my best to stay calm and present for both of us.

  16. Honestly, mindfulness is something I’m still working on, but I do try to use it in small ways throughout the day. One of the main things I do is pause and take a few deep breaths when I feel overwhelmed—it helps me slow down and come back to the moment. I also try to be present when I’m eating, like actually tasting my food instead of just eating while scrolling on my phone (though I still slip up with that sometimes).

Another thing that helps is doing a quick body scan before bed. I just check in with how my body feels and where I’m holding tension, especially in my shoulders or jaw. I don’t do it perfectly, but it’s something that brings me a little peace. I’m learning to accept things as they are, including how my brain works, instead of constantly judging myself for not being "on it" all the time.

  17. I just love mindfulness tips. I found them to be extremely helpful as a full-time student. They often help me when I am experiencing overwhelming stress and when I start to display antisocial actions, considering that I dissociate a lot in stressful environments. But the method that I enjoy most is meditation, particularly number 4 of the post— body scan meditation. Through this method, I have learned to connect more with my body and understand what it is actually feeling instead of what I think it's feeling.

  19. Zakayla:
Mindful tips I use for everyday life will have to be me cleaning up. When I tend to get to stress or overwhelmed I just start cleaning and organizing. I also will play music and try to calm my nerves and tune out any and everything.
